Extensive renovations have been underway for several months on the historic building which was built by Famous Players as the Columbia Theatre in 1927.
The City of New Westminster has officially designated the site as a heritage property, and care is being taken to preserve, restore, and in some cases reconstruct the original designs. As building technology and construction codes have changed over the years, considerable upgrades have been required in many areas.
The artwork on the ceiling in the main lobby reflects The Columbia's original "atmospheric theatre" concept, transporting visitors to another place.
The classic retro stairway leads to Lafflines in the Baby Grand Room upstairs - an elevator is available for those who cannot use stairs.
Fancy gold ceiling trim recreates the look of The Columbia's original decor.
The Columbia is now available for reservations. Call us to book the Grand Room or the Baby Grand Room for your corporate event or private party. Wedding receptions are especially Grand at The Columbia.
